timp (Aston Villa) says...

It is the prerogative of managers to live in a world of fantasy. Paul Lambert believes he is building a solid Villa team - the facts would belie that rather naive belief. The simple acid test for all football myths and beliefs is the League Table which sits there dispassionately and objectively stating a simple fact that no amount of emotion or blind faith can ignore - Villa are in the bottom 3 and are there on merit (or, rather, lack of it). His own record is less than sparkling and again the facts are blunt and clear. There are no excuses - this is his team for the most part, he makes the selection, chooses the tactics and the results of this activity are there for all to see - a side that, next season without Benteke, Bent and any other part way decent saleable asset will struggle to get promotion from the Championship. No team is too big to fail no matter how passionate or devoted their fans - all it requires is incompetent financial and football leadership, both of which we have in abundance.
