Has nobody read the comments? The headline is misleading (as always, 365 submit their own articles ripe for mediawatch) as Laudrup is just saying that he feels their should be consequences for officials when they make mistakes like there are in Spain. But still goes on to say "that won't help me... because we wont get those points back". I would imagine he is suggesting that if officials were seeing consequences of their poor officiating then they would likely step up their game. Again, in case you have misread my comment, Laudrup has not called for any particular official to be "frozen out" merely suggested that this is what they do in Spain and it doesnt happen here.

stewiegriffin88, you nailed it with your comments. Considering we've had a ref let play continue when we had a player unconscious on the pitch and haven't had a penalty in the league all season, it's amazing Laudrup hasn't had a pop at officials before now. The fact that a fan of a team managed in the recent past by serial whingers Rafa and Kenny sees fit to criticise Laudrup's comments is frankly hysterical.

Nothing wrong with the comments. I think the only way refs and linesmen will get the respect we all want to see is if they abecome more accountable for their actions. Whether that be an enforced baby the FA (a little draconian for me) or having refs miked up like in various other sports to at least hear their take on it, to all 3 on pitch officials undergoing a press conference to explaion whichever decisions a journalist decides to pick up on.

Totally agree with zedsmith. A red card carries a ban because it is a malicious act. An honest mistake doesn't deserve compulsory punishment. Next time Michu misses a sitter from 6 yards, or Vorm lets one through his legs for a goal, let's see if Laudrap puts them in the 'freezer' for a few games.

To be fair, it was a shocking decision. The linesman didn't know a fairly elementary clause in the offside rule. This wasn't like a player missing a penalty, it was more like a player not knowing penalty shootouts involved kicking th ball and not throwing it into the back of the net.

I agree with zedsmith.....very disappointing to hear from Laudrup, who up until now has been almost impossible to dislike. Not saying this changes my mind about him, but i thought he would have shown more class than to snap out at officials like Sir Alex would.

Zedsmith in the words of Ron Burgundy, that, that doesn't make sense.

Really disappointing comments to be honest. The comparison with a player kicking someone is ridiculous. A more relevant comparison would be ¿if one of my players missed a penalty, I¿d ban him for three games¿¿which makes the argument sound as silly as it actually is. The lino made a mistake, nothing more. I imagine you could find many mistakes made by Laudrup¿s players during the game, no doubt some that contributed to West Brom¿s goals. It doesn¿t sound like he is going to ban all the players, so don¿t use that logic for the lino.
