UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino confirmed the European body will double its minimum sanction from next season and that all national associations will be asked to follow suit.

However, the FA chairman has not made it clear whether they will follow UEFA and bring in a minimum 10-match ban for racist abuse.

He told Sky Sports News: "I can't comment on the number of matches that will be our minimum. We're still working on this still, but we're very close to a solution. The actual number on matches being involved, we don't know as yet."

Asked why the FA would not follow suit with UEFA, he said: "Because we have our own process and we have our own audience of people we have to satisfy.

"There is a bind for all parts of English football. It's something we have to get to very carefully and in a very measured way, so we wouldn't necessary get to the same solution as UEFA.

"And this is not a race; it is not a first past the post. We're doing this at our own pace and our own way.

"I must say that I am delighted that UEFA have come up with a strong penalty, I think it's fantastic.

"I fully support them doing it, but English football must come to its own decision and in its own time, which will be very soon."

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
