With all this talk of a play-off between Chelsea and Arsenal for third place and a kind of play-off between Spurs and Arsenal for fourth place, it's made me think: why not have play-offs for the final Champions League spot every season?

If, as expected, the table stays as it is after Sunday's results, imagine the excitement if Arsenal and Liverpool, and Spurs and Everton were to meet over two legs, with the winners facing a Champions League shoot out at Wembley?

It would mean extra games in an era when clubs always bemoan a heavy fixture load, and the England manager probably wouldn't like the idea, but the fans would love it and so would the chairmen of the clubs involved.

It could also keep the season alive for a bit longer for clubs just outside the play-off zone, much like it does in the Football League play-offs.

No one likes these end of season snores with nothing to play for. And no one likes it when your rivals are playing teams with nothing to play for, when the fixture list means you're playing teams who have everything to play for.

Football should be about entertainment, and a Champions League play-off sure would be exciting.

t's a bloody good goal, though. Sh!t, the kid's gonna be the worlds best before we know it, isn't he? He's got the touch of genius in him. Like Neymar, but with muscles and stuff. He's doing a Ronaldo as we watch. He's bulked up to be able to ride the tackles, but he's improved technically as well. His touch is sublime. Bugger.
