The 29-year-old midfielder is desperate to form part of Australia's 2014 World Cup campaign, as they close on qualification for the Brazil showpiece, and appreciates that he must be playing in order to be considered for selection.

He struggled at times to force his way into Paul Lambert's plans last season, with the Scot often overlooking a player snapped up by his predecessor Alex McLeish.

Holman concedes that he cannot afford to spend another campaign accepting the odd cameo appearance.

He insists he is not actively looking for a new club, but has made it clear that he will look elsewhere if his situation at Villa Park shows no sign of improvement.

"Considering what happens after Tuesday night and, obviously if we get a win, I'll have to look at the best place where I'll play football," Holman, who is currently away on international duty and looking to secure a place at Brazil 2014 with a positive result against Iraq in midweek, said in the Birmingham Mail.

"I have to be playing to be fit. If that's at Villa then so be it, if not, then so be it as well.

"I've still got two more years at Villa, so it's not as if I'm in a panic situation where I'm looking for a club and I'm desperately looking to get out.

"We'll just see what happens next season."

t's why Mourinho is so successful. He gives players a specific, limited set of functions to perform. They are but a cog in a machine. Do no more, do no less. I assume he learnt it from LvG :)

really hope that someone in the mainstream media spots that the Bayern manager played for and managed Barcelona quite well, and thinks to mention it in the build up. That would be really interesting.
