Petr Cech: Delighted to be top but says hard work starts now

Following the weekend's Eden Hazard inspired 3-0 victory over Newcastle, Chelsea opened up a one-point lead over second-placed Manchester City, after they drew 0-0 at Norwich.

Czech Republic international Cech says he confident that the team can handle the pressure of being in pole position and says they must not drop any more points in their remaining fixtures.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he said: "If you are ahead, you know that if you keep winning nobody can catch you. If you are behind, you know you have to be winning and hope that everybody slips up.

"Being in first I would say you are in the better position because you still have to win all the games but you don't have to look back if you keep doing that.

"When you are part of it, you are just concentrating on making sure you are not the one dropping points. That is the main target and we have got a very good run of games where we want to carry the momentum.

"We know nothing is done yet. We haven't won anything yet and there is still a long, long way to go. But once you go top, you know if you win every game you have a big chance to achieve what you want.

"We are aware of the quality of the sides around us and know one little moment when you fall asleep and you can be back behind again. We would like to stay on top as long as we can."

he 'where does it end' argument is an absurd one and completely misses the point of the Rooney Rule, which applies to all minorities. It doesn't force any team to appoint anyone, it merely requires them to interview at least one minority candidate.
