Peter Odemwingie: Feeling relaxed at Stoke following his January move from Cardi

The Nigeria international made a January switch to the Britannia Stadium from the Bluebirds with Kenwyne Jones going the other way.

And the 32-year-old has been quick to repay the faith shown in him by manager Mark Hughes after scoring twice in the Potters' 3-1 victory over West Ham on Saturday to take his tally to three goals in a Stoke shirt.

Odemwingie admits his self-belief is at an all-time high again and is thankful to Hughes for handing him the opportunity.

"That's been key," he told reporters. "When a player lacks confidence it's a huge difference. When I came, they gave me the chance to play 90 minutes.

"When you have the backing, the players believe in you, it makes a whole difference.

"You're not playing, thinking, 'they might sub me now', and I feel relaxed.

"Things are going well for me. You're still nervous sometimes because it's a new club and I want to do a lot because they gave me that opportunity in January.

"But with time and goals, I will feel more at home and just play my football."

errible night all round. This was a team there for the taking yet I fail to recall their 'keeper making a notable save. Sterling decided to have his worst game ever, Coutinho only provided about two good passes all game and Balotelli continues to frustrate. The less said about the set piece defending the better. Daniel Sturridge cannot came back soon enough. The lack of a real threat in the final third is so surprising, no killer pass, not testing...
