Wilshere returned from 17 months on the sidelines due to ankle and knee injuries when making his comeback against Queens Park Rangers at the end of October.

The England international scored his first goal of the season against Montpellier in midweek as he continued his impressive comeback into the first-team fold.

However, Ramsey, who has also experienced returning from a long lay-off, knows it will take time before Wilshere is back to his best.

"Jack scored a great goal against Montpellier but he still needs time," Ramsey told The Sun.

"It will take him a while to get his match fitness back along with his full sharpness. People have to be patient with him. Of course, he's shown already what he is capable of and I am sure he will be back to his very best soon.

"He puts in a lot of hours trying to get in the best shape and hopefully he can get the rewards for his hard work. I thought he came through everything well and hopefully he can now stay injury free."

Meanwhile, Ramsey believes he has got his confidence back after coming in for some criticism from a section of Arsenal fans for some below-par performances.

"The fans let you know when someone is not doing the right thing but they have to be patient and get behind the team and individuals," added Ramsey.

"They have to realise that. It can be such a massive help. I have played wide a few times. It is not my position but I was asked to do a job there.

"I have got my confidence back and I feel sharper. If I carry on improving, I will become a better player."

m absolutely disgusted that I've been misquoted in saying that if a chance came up to join Arsenal I would be interested. What I meant to say is if Man United or Chelsea were interested......
