The France international made a relatively slow start to life in the Premier League following his £13m switch from Montpellier but has now amassed 14 goals and 10 assists from 34 appearances.

"It's all going to plan, but I know I can do better," the 26-year-old told Le Parisien. "I have room to improve, which means I can be more ambitious.

"I have matured in my mind. I have also learnt a lot, in particular with my back to goal. I control the ball more when I receive it and I read the situation.

"I am fortunate to have a coach who I can talk to and share things with. Recently we made a video and he talked me through how I can improve. On the pitch we know what we are doing. There is a trust and communication between us."

Giroud needed seven games to break his Arsenal duck but says he was always confident he would be able to adapt to the Premier League.

"As a striker you can't doubt yourself - in a career you will have periods of scarcity," he said. "You must be positive constantly and I'm like that. Here, it's a requirement at a very high level.

"When you have an opportunity you must take it. When it's not easy, you have to look ahead and demand more from yourself. That's just my motto."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
