Villa boosted their survival hopes with a 3-2 victory against their fellow strugglers, with Weimann scoring in between goals from Gabriel Agbonlahor and Christian Benteke.

And the 21-year-old insists the Villa Park faithful played a vital role in driving the team on during a crucial fixture in their attempts at avoiding the drop.

"The fans were brilliant," Weimann said. "They have been fantastic all season. But in the game against QPR they were even better.

"There were nearly 40,000 here in the ground and they were all willing us on to win.

"The reaction I got was great. I want to do my best for Villa. Receiving a standing ovation when I came off was brilliant.

"The last few minutes were tense. I couldn't sit down on the bench. Everyone was on their feet. When the final whistle blew it was magnificent."
