Spurs already headed the betting on the Belgium striker's next club but have shortened from evens to 8/11 following Tuesday morning's developments.

Arsenal and Chelsea are considered next in line to land the 22-year-old at 7/2, followed by Liverpool (12/1) and Borussia Dortmund (20/1).

Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: "Tottenham have consistently been the best-backed side in our market on Benteke's next club, which we opened at the end of last season with interest seemingly inevitable this summer given his impressive debut campaign in the Premier League.

"Our punters already seem to be looking at who Villa will turn to as Benteke's replacement, with Bobby Zamora backed in from 10/1 to 2/1 to move to Villa Park."

This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
