Nicklas Helenius: On target for Aston Villa in pre-season friendly

Villa opened the scoring through Helenius' near post header from Matt Lowton's cross on the hour mark following a quiet start to the game in the first half.

The six foot, five-inch forward nearly doubled his and his team's tally after 69 minutes, only just missing out on Andi Weimann's cross from the right.

Villa had a penalty shout turned down with just 12 minutes remaining as Ciaran Clark was felled in the box but the referee waved play on.

Soren Siek then levelled for the home side as Paul Lambert gave new signings Aleksandar Tonev, Jores Okore, Leandro Bacuna, Antonio Luna, Jed Steer and Helenuis some experience in a Villa shirt.

International forwards Christian Benteke and Darren Bent have not travelled for the three-match tour of Germany which will also see Villa take on SC Paderborn and VFL Bochum.
