Christian Benteke: Aston Villa striker in action against Luton in pre-season fri

The Belgium international, who signed a three-year contract extension last Friday after withdrawing his transfer request, could not find the net against the non-league outfit.

The Hatters went in front before the break when Mark Cullen's cross was turned in by Jon Shaw from point-blank range.

Benteke was substituted at half-time and Paul Lambert's side came close to equalising through Callum Robinson, but he could only head wide of the target when well placed.

And with just over 10 minutes to go Jake Howells made it 2-0 to Luton as he took advantage of a slip in the Villa defence and showed good composure to slot home.
