The 23-year-old winger originally burst on to the scene under Gerard Houllier at Villa Park, but has barely featured since Paul Lambert was installed as boss of the midlands club last summer.

Albrighton, capped by England at Under-21 level, has made just one appearance for his boyhood club this season and is anxious to make the most of his 28-day stay with Owen Coyle's side.

"It's really nice to come to a club and be wanted," he told Latics' official website.

"Hopefully over the next month I can pick up some good form, confidence and do well for Wigan Athletic.

"I can't wait to get going with the lads and hopefully prove a point while I'm here to Aston Villa and to myself, in all honesty.

"I've had a couple of tough years with injuries so I need to show that I can still do it and at the same time help the club put some points on the board to move further up the table where they should be.

"I'm 23 years of age, so it's an important stage in my career and that's why I was so desperate to get out on loan and compete for first-team football.

"Paul Lambert agreed that this would be an ideal move for me, and as soon as I found out Wigan Athletic were interested in bringing me in I jumped at the chance to come to the DW Stadium."

Coyle revealed he had tried to sign Albrighton in the past and now finally has his man, albeit temporarily, with the manager keen to improve his wide options given Shaun Maloney is still sidelined.

Albrighton added: "When I spoke to Owen he was just full of praise for me, made me feel good and made me feel wanted. He told me that he had tried to sign me in the past, which as a player is exactly the kind of thing you want to hear.

"He wants me to come here and enjoy myself; play with a smile on my face and that's exactly what I want from the stay as well."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
