Pulis called for an end to midweek friendlies after England's 1-0 victory over Denmark on Wednesday, claiming a monthly squad meeting would be far more beneficial.

Since the start of the Premier League campaign, England coach Roy Hodgson has assembled squads for four international friendlies and four World Cup qualifying matches.

However, Pulis fails to see the benefit in playing friendlies during the domestic season and believes Hodgson should gather his players together for a monthly in-house training session.

"International friendlies are not for me," Pulis told the Daily Express.

"I would prefer a system where you would get the players together at the end of every month for three or four days.

"We could have missed out the Denmark game and instead reported to Burton [England's headquarters], where Roy could then work on the shape of the team and share ideas."

Pulis' side host Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday, with four of Mauricio Pochettino's squad having featured in England's midweek squad, while Palace's Mile Jedinak and Danny Gabbidon were also on international duty.

was there, it was embarrassing - the team looked totally unbalanced from the off, the defence was woeful and when Mikel came off injured it got even worse with nobody in front of them. Up front on several occasions we had opportunities and nobody would shoot - it was a complete farse! On the back of Salah's performance I'm glad there is talk of getting shot...

reat to see Tommy Rosicky getting some love. A wonderful player. Such a pity we lost so long to injury. I was so excited when we signed him, this resurgence only makes the absences seem more of a lost opportunity.
