The on-loan Chelsea player replaces in-form West Brom striker Saido Berahino who is suspended for the European U21 Championship game at the Greenhous Meadow in Shrewsbury.

Berahino is banned after he was booked in Thursday's 3-0 win over Finland U21 at Milton Keynes, a match in which he scored twice.

The 21-year-old was rather harshly shown a yellow card after he revealed a shirt following the first of his two goals with 'RIP Love U Dad' scrawled on it in tribute to his father, who was one of the estimated 300,000 killed in the civil war that plagued Burundi.

Bamford, 20, who has previously been capped at U18 and U19 level, has scored 12 goals in 20 appearances for the Dons this season.

England U21 boss Gareth Southgate will also be without Manchester United forward Nick Powell, who missed the Finland match due to injury.

Powell was with the squad in Milton Keynes whilst his condition was assessed but it has now been decided he should return to Wigan Athletic, where he is currently on loan, for further treatment.

Forward Will Keane has also gone back to train with Manchester United after spending the last week with Southgate's squad following his return to fitness.

However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
