Mourinho labelled Vertonghen 'a disgrace' and accused him of play-acting after Fernando Torres was sent off for an altercation with the Belgian defender during the draw between the two sides at White Hart Lane earlier this season.

Vertonghen does not want to get in a war of words with Mourinho and is remaining focused on picking up three vital points to aid Tottenham's bid for a top four finish.

"I didn't react to what Mourinho said after the game at White Hart Lane and I'm not going to do that right now," Vertonghen told Het Nieuwsblad.

"I don't want to add fuel to the fire in the run-up to the game. I dont want to go in a war of words with Mourinho as you can't win.

"I just want to prove myself on the pitch."

Vertonghen admits the game against vital to Tottenham's hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League ahead of games against Arsenal and Liverpool later this month.

"If we want to reach the Champions League we have to win this game," added Vertonghen. "

"We have a tough month of March, but I'm excited to play in the most important part of the season."

was there, it was embarrassing - the team looked totally unbalanced from the off, the defence was woeful and when Mikel came off injured it got even worse with nobody in front of them. Up front on several occasions we had opportunities and nobody would shoot - it was a complete farse! On the back of Salah's performance I'm glad there is talk of getting shot...

reat to see Tommy Rosicky getting some love. A wonderful player. Such a pity we lost so long to injury. I was so excited when we signed him, this resurgence only makes the absences seem more of a lost opportunity.
