Ba: Not about boss revenge

Demba Ba insists he had no point to prove to Jose Mourinho after firing Chelsea into the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.

The France-born Senegal international was handed his first European appearance since December as he stepped off the bench to make a telling contribution against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

Introduced ahead of Fernando Torres, Ba pounced three minutes from time to snatch a crucial second goal for Chelsea and send them through on the away goals rule after the two-legged tie ended 3-3 on aggregate.

His effort came in the wake of comments made by Mourinho in which he questioned the impact made by his forwards this season and claimed to be lacking a 'real striker' in his ranks.

Ba disagrees with that assessment, claiming that Chelsea have 'three great strikers', but maintains that none of them have an issue with their boss and will continue to give their all for the good of the collective cause.

"I'm not out for revenge," Ba said in the Daily Telegraph.

"Maybe he [Mourinho] doesn't have strikers to his liking, but I know that we have three great strikers and I think that a lot of clubs would like to have them."

Chelsea had Ba, Torres and Samuel Eto'o on the field when securing their progress in dramatic fashion.

Ba was the only Parisian on the pitch and, despite helping to eliminate his boyhood club, the 28-year-old is delighted to have shown that he is capable of delivering on the big stage.

Having spent much of the season stuck on the bench, he added: "I'm happy, I'm happy to have liberated us.

"I haven't been given my chance much this season and I've taken it.

"It's the first time I've wished PSG to lose and it's me who scores the goal, luckily for Chelsea.

"I'm happy for Chelsea but it's hard to see them lose, especially with one of my best friends, Yohan Cabaye, on the other side.

"Eden Hazard kept telling me all day, 'It's your time tonight, it's your time tonight'.

"I was a bit scared for the Parisians because after the third goal in Paris everyone thought PSG were in the semi-final."

t's wrong to be making a joke out of Bender's name at the expense of gay people. It's the kind of childish, uncivilised thing that Football365 would deride and ridicule if it was another media outlet saying. Why is there a need for jokes like this? Does it make your writers feel like men? F365 might suggest that I 'lighten up', but it is genuinely traumatic for people who have been oppressed all their lives to be the butt of jokes, and to be told...

ou can't blame De Gea for wanting to leave, he has enough to do in front of goal as it is as well as taking on the role of Man Utd's version of Derek Acorah in trying to contact and organise a defence that isn't there.

f you want to take six points off Arsenal, then that's a great strike force. Can't imagine either of them showing much for the rest of the season though...
