Hyypia is a big fans' favourite at Anfield after spending 10 successful years on Merseyside before moving to Germany in 2009.

The Finn took charge of Bayer on a caretaker basis before being appointed permanently in May 2012 and he has impressed during his short time in charge at the Bayer Arena.

And the 39-year-old has revealed it would be a dream come true to one day return to Liverpool as manager.

"I have two special places in my heart," Hyypia told Bild. "I was born in Finland. And there the national team coach is the biggest job.

"Liverpool has a different place in my heart.

"I will not say that it is a goal, but after the 10 years that I played there, it would be a dream someday to be Liverpool manager.

"But I live in the here and the now. And that is Bayer Leverkusen, and it is great fun."

xcellent! Not sure if he is any good as a manager (never thought about it) but the 'headbutt in the technical area' and what he said to Pelligrini were just brilliant, it was as if he was trying to recreate the end of the Alan Partridge Xmas special when Alan punched a man in a wheelchair and verbally abused Tony Heirs.
