The Montenegrin forward was heavily linked with some of Europe's top clubs this summer prior to completing a switch to the Etihad Stadium from Fiorentina.

He has joined a star-studded squad at City, and one that is expected to challenge for top honours on multiple fronts in 2013/14.

Jovetic claims it is that expectation which convinced him to link up with the Blues, with their a desire on his part to ensure that the club get back on the trophy trail in Manuel Pellegrini's first season in charge.

The 23-year-old told the Daily Mail: "There were other offers, other interest in England, but I don't want to name the clubs. City were quick in the way they moved for me and that proved they wanted me a lot.

"They are playing to win the Premier League. They are playing in the Champions League. They have a very good team and I hope I will be winning some trophies here.

"That's important. I was in Florence for five years, but I won nothing."

He added on where he sees himself fitting into a new-look City side: "I don't feel any pressure.

"I know about how great (Carlos) Tevez and (Sergio) Aguero are as players. They are two fantastic players, but all I can do is my best. Replacing Tevez will be a massive task. But I will just give 100 per cent and try to fill those shoes in the best possible way.

"Obviously it depends on the tactical system, but I like to either play on the left-hand side cutting in or just behind the front striker, playing as a second striker. We will see."

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
