David De Gea: Happy with his form for United

In contrast to the opprobrium directed his way after high-profile lapses in previous seasons, he has been earning lavish praise for his displays this season.

The 23-year-old told Inside United: "I'm very happy with it. I feel like this is a particularly good moment in my career right now and I hope to continue in the same vein for some time to come.

"I feel like I'm always improving and I want to make sure that continues as well.

"It's very important that the manager values your work and now it's important to continue to play well and help the team.

"I'm very happy the manager praised me but, for me, the journey doesn't stop now - I want to keep earning praise and playing well for this team.

"I play for my team-mates and I play for my manager but I also play for the fans. When you win over a club's fans, it's a very proud moment. These are the people who pay money to come to watch you every week.

"You owe it to them to play well and give your best, so it makes me extremely happy to hear the fans singing my name."

eah, that'll do nicely. Guess they're feeling pretty flush after the World Cup and see a few successful years ahead with our new manager. Get Vidal in asap now, and let's get things back on track.

Man Utd secure adidas kit deal

I

worry about these types of conclusions on a teams brilliance when it was very clear that Argentina had 4 chances where they really should have scored and on chances alone then it would have been the more pragmatic Argentinians who would be the best in the world. I like the Germany team but this just shows that even with planning it relies on a great deal of luck and finding your opponents at just the right time.

We have your World Cup final reactions - some were wowed and others think it was all an anti-climax. We have lots of thoughts on Lionel Messi too. Has he flopped?
