The Manchester United manager insists the most important game is the next one and believes it is vital to maintain momentum and confidence following their battling 1-1 draw with the European champions at Old Trafford earlier this week.

And although the Champions League offers the Red Devils their only chance of silverware this season, he remains focused on this weekend's game at St James' Park where United will hope to gain revenge for their shock 1-0 home defeat back in early December.

He said: "My focus is only on Newcastle. It's important to keep trying to build some momentum and get the three points.

"We also have an extra day's recovery this week, as we play Bayern on Wednesday.

"The message to the players is the next game is the most important one and that's Newcastle."

Moyes also remains upbeat following their first-leg draw with the German champions on Tuesday.

He added: "It was a terrific performance and an all-round good night at Old Trafford, possibly one of the best nights I have ever been involved with in football because of the football, atmosphere and standard of opposition.

"We were good tactically, a bit disappointed with the result but overall happy - although I would have preferred 0-0 than 1-1."

As for players returning from injury, he said: "We have Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans back in training and on the way back and it's good news because we've missed them.

"We could have done with their youth and enthusiasm."

Ryan Giggs looks set to miss the trip to the north east because of an injury he suffered against Bayern, but left-back Alex Buttner has recovered well from the hamstring problem he sustained versus the Germans.

Moyes added: "Ryan Giggs picked up a wee bit of an injury in the game and we are not quite so worried about Alex Buttner. He is not as bad as when he first came off."

irst Townsend, now Chiles. What next ITV? Comedy that you can actually watch without vomiting up your own spleen? I'll be sad to see Matt Smith go though. I actually quite like him. Plus, he was good in Doctor Who.

wful, awful pundit. He was crap on BBC, and offered a little more analysis than Robbie Savage - apart from the delivery of banality in a sexy accent. Also, as I'm Irish he'll never be more then a slimy, hand-balling f**ker in my eyes.
