The Dutch shot-stopper was in inspired form at White Hart Lane on Sunday - repelling everything Spurs threw at him.

Smart stops were made at regular intervals throughout a testing 90 minutes, with his reflexes called upon on 14 occasions.

His efforts helped Newcastle to a welcome clean sheet and another three points, and Krul is delighted to have played a leading role in a dogged performance.

Asked if he has ever played better, Krul told Sky Sports: "No. This is the highlight of my career.

"That doesn't happen very often, this type of game. Three points away at Tottenham is a fantastic result.

"I'm delighted. I'm over the moon. Hard graft, I think the boys worked their socks off again like last week (against Chelsea) and we dug it out.

"We know the Premier League is unforgiving. Today we got three points, but it was a hard game. We have got two home games to come, though, so we can look ahead with confidence."

Krul felt an arching first half stop to keep out a looping Roberto Soldado header was his personal pick of the bunch, but admits a second half effort which saw him get a hand to a deflected Gylfi Sigurdsson free-kick and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa hack the loose ball off the line best summed up what Newcastle are all about.

He added: "Mapou followed up because that could have been a goal and it would have been a draw. He put his life on the line for us.

"That just shows the commitment. The back five, the strikers, everybody, works for each other and we have got a great squad."

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
