Despite speaking English to his players at former club Southampton, the Argentine has used a translator to talk to the media since arriving in the Barclays Premier League in January 2013.

Pochettino dropped the interpreter for an interview with Spurs TV however and moved to ease concerns about his high-intensity training sessions.

"'The players don't have to be afraid,' Pochettino said.

"Our style is demanding - sometimes too much but we use common sense. We demand a lot from them because that is our style.

"Our philosophy is 'suffer in training so you don't suffer in the game'. But the players don't have to be afraid because we work with common sense all the time.

"We can only expect full commitment and a positive attitude."

Pochettino also admitted he was honoured to take charge at Tottenham and has vowed to make the club's fans proud of the team.

"It is an absolute honour to be a coach at such a big club," added Pochettino. "I am very happy to be here.

"We will try to give everything to make you proud of this football club."

Pochettino also confirmed Steffen Freund will remain on the club's coaching staff.

The former Spurs midfielder will work alongside assistant head coach Jesus Perez, first team coach Miguel D'Agostino and goalkeeping coach Toni Jiminez, who all came with Pochettino from Southamption.

arish is the man to blame for this shambles. Pulis must be chuckling into his left over turkey sandwich. I pray this doesn't mean the Neil Warnock media machine will kick in now and he'll be back on the telly box.

e almost found a new way to lose, just when I thought it was getting boring Giroud does that. Although Arsenal are deservedly called 'soft' the entire midfield is out injured. Still must admit MU are managing to win despite a similar raft of absentees. Think the Gunners have good players but poorly coached.
