The window for loan signings opened on Friday and there are areas of his Rams squad that Clough would like to strengthen.

Any loan signing coming in would be with a view to a permanent deal in the summer, as happened with Jamie Ward, Frank Fielding and Theo Robinson in February 2011.

But Clough insists he is happy to finish the season with his current group of players if a loan signing is not possible.

"We will get this weekend's game out of the way and then make a couple of enquiries," Clough told the media ahead of Derby's trip to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

"We would like to have a look at a couple of players before the end of the season, if possible.

"If it is not possible, we will keep watching them at their respective clubs and make a judgement from there.

"We are certainly happy enough with the squad. We now have Jake Buxton back in training, so there is only Shaun Barker in the treatment room - touch wood."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!
