Rovers saw off the Tractor Boys 1-0 at Ewood Park on Saturday, with Rhodes claiming the 61st-minute winner as his own, while Town credited it as an own-goal by goalkeeper Stephen Henderson.

The strike arrived when Danny Murphy's corner was fired goalwards by Grant Hanley, Aaron Cresswell cleared off the line and Rhodes appeared to get a touch before it deflected off Henderson.

Should the goal be given as Rhodes', it would mark a record-equalling seventh strike in six successive games.

Rhodes broke his nose during the encounter but feels it was a fair price to pay for the win.

He told The Sun: "It's the first time I've broken it - but it's all part and parcel of being a centre forward.

"I have had a bit of stick before for not breaking my nose. (Rhodes' former boss) Joe Royle kept telling me you need to break your nose five or six times if you are a striker!

"I'll give him a ring and I'm sure he'll be proud.

"It's an aching pain but it would have felt worse if we'd lost 1-0.

"The doctor snapped it back in with a click - and getting three points makes it all worthwhile."

Rhodes was happy to score against his boyhood club after leaving in 2009 and joining Huddersfield.

"That's my first goal against them. I've been there since I was 15," he added.

"I made it my job at Huddersfield to make myself a better player - and prove a couple of people wrong at Ipswich."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
