The Irishman failed to lure the Republic of Ireland international to Glasgow in January but is refusing to rule out another bid this summer.
Hoops top-scorer Gary Hooper, who has 26 goals this season, is a target for English clubs and Lennon believes 29-year-old Doyle could be the ideal replacement should he move south.
"I'm a big admirer of Kevin obviously, I tried to take him in January," said Lennon.
"I think he's a quality player. He is the all-round type of centre-forward I really like.
"I can't talk about another club's player as I don't want to disrespect Wolves, but we wanted him."
And asked if he would make a second signing move, Lennon replied: "I'd think about it."
Meanwhile, Lennon also confirmed striker Anthony Stokes will be staying at Parkhead, adding: "Anthony is a very important player for us."
