The Robins are currently four points of adrift in the npower Championship and rooted to the foot of the table, but the former Manchester United and Cardiff keeper, 26, believes their recent form hints at an escape.

Sean O'Driscoll's side's defeat to Wolves at the weekend was their first reverse in five outings and ended Heaton's run of three successive clean sheets.

And the player believes the club can bounce back from the setback against their relegation rivals and avoid the drop.

"The belief and confidence is there," he told Bristol City Player.

"It certainly hasn't changed because of one defeat.

"In terms of our confidence and belief, the result won't rock us. Everyone is sure we can survive, as long as we continue to do the right things.

"With eight games to go it won't change our belief. We know what we can do."
