Brian McDermott: Looking forward to facing Brighton

Leeds take on Brighton in their final home game of the season with the south coast club on course for a play-off place having played in front of near full houses at the AMEX Stadium this season.

But when asked if Brighton were one of the clubs who Leeds were looking to emulate, McDermott said: "You're talking about Leeds United here.

"Leeds don't have to aspire to anybody because they're Leeds United.

"What we have to do is play a great brand of football, the sort that our supporters want to see.

"We're certainly not looking to aspire to anybody because we don't need to. History suggests we don't need to.

"We've got great history here and we need to focus on what we need to do to get our supporters back through the turnstiles.

"We need to get this ground packed and make it a really difficult place to come and play football against Leeds."

McDermott is looking forward to crossing swords again with Brighton boss Gus Poyet.

"I know Gus really well," McDermott added. "We came across each other a couple of times last year and I'm looking forward to seeing him, he's a good guy.

"I know he's popular with the Leeds fans. He was assistant manager to Dennis Wise here so I'm sure he's going to get a good reception."
