Redmond has enjoyed a solid season for Blues, particularly towards the business end of the campaign, having broken through to the first team last year and has now been recognised for his attacking contribution by Taylor, who was in March appointed as U20 head coach for the tournament.

"Nathan Redmond of Birmingham has had an outstanding season and is a clever winger. He can play as a number 10, as they call it, also," Taylor told the Football Association's official website.

Redmond, along with former Birmingham loanee Rob Hall, has made the 35-man squad which will be cut to 21 players on June 7.

The 24-team World Cup will take place in Turkey between June 21 and July 13, with England drawn in Group E alongside Iraq, Chile and Egypt.
