Grant Holt: Ready for new challenge at Wigan

Grant Holt: Ready for new challenge at Wigan

The experienced striker has ended his four-year association with Norwich to sign a three-year deal at the DW Stadium after Wigan paid an undisclosed fee.

Norwich's capture of Ricky van Wolfswinkel has increased competition for places at Carrow Road and Holt now wants to focus on helping Wigan to return to the Premier League,

"I think it's the right move at the right time," Holt told Sky Sports News.

"I had been at Norwich for four fantastic years and it's the right time to go. Everyone knows I've got family up the road and that was a little part of my decision.

"But it was more to do with a new challenge and I know my games would be a bit more limited with the new signings coming in at Norwich.

"To go and have a new challenge, I thought Wigan was the perfect opportunity.

"It doesn't matter where you are, you just enjoy playing football and I want to do my best and be successful.

"Obviously, Wigan have come down and my job now is to get in here, get in as quick as I can, meet the lads, get in with the manager and get this club back up to the Premier League."

I

think all those names linked to United exits make sense. Kagawa has never really looked like hitting the form he had at Dortmund and Fellaini is radioactive after last season (even though I think he's been unfairly singled out for criticism). Nani and Anderson have had more than their fair share of chances so they are done, and Hernandez deserves better than warming a bench.

e'll be off to Spurs (or better) in January and I don't blame him. Looking forward to re-signing Grant Holt as his replacement though.
