The 31-year old opened the scoring at Vicarage Road with a powerful strike after just five minutes, but his effort was cancelled out by Lewis McGugan's second-half free-kick.

The draw meant that both clubs kept their unbeaten starts to the season intact and Reid thinks that the two teams are amongst the Championship's finest.

"I suppose as it looked on the telly, it was frantic," he told Sky Sports.

"It was good quality at times and we're probably two of the best three or four teams in the league so it was a real top of the table clash.

"It was hot today but we're fit lads and we've had a good pre-season as I'm sure Watford have.

"I don't think the heat was too much of a factor as we were still both going for it come the 90th minute."

McGugan, who left Forest to join Watford during the summer, netted to earn a point for the Hornets, but he opted for muted celebrations and played down the strike against his former club.

He said: "Obviously it's nice to get a goal and obviously the celebration was out of respect."

ow is the time for Allardyce to finally get a chance at a big club please. He is likely to have a number of great offers for his services this summer, but who will he choose? Will it be Liverpool, Real Madrid, Dortmund or Man City?
