The 24-year-old's Rangers career got off to a slow start following his summer move from Burnley with just one goal, against Exeter in the Capital One Cup, in his first seven matches.

But a brace in Saturday's 2-0 win over Barnsley took Austin's tally to five in his last five Championship outings.

"I've always got belief and confidence in my ability," he told Rangers' official website.

"And if you're playing with players like I am, you're always going to score. You hope the goals will come. The one against Birmingham did because I was in the right place at the right time.

"If you're in those positions, you're likely to score - especially with the creativity we've got in the squad. It's unbelievable.

"It's a joy to play with the players that I am playing with at the moment. The players behind me are always going to create chances every game.

"The chances are coming and I was happy to score twice against Barnsley. I'm confident at the moment and long may that continue."
