Rangers were beaten 1-0 at home to Leicester in the early kick-off to allow Burnley to move a point above them in the table.

Jamie Vardy's 41st-minute goal settled the contest at Loftus Road as the third-placed Foxes went level on points with their hosts, who had Joey Barton sent off six minutes from time.

Burnley went ahead through Danny Ings' early goal only for Craig Cathcart to level.

But Scott Arfield struck the winner two minutes into the second half.

Steve McClaren's Derby maintained their charge with a 3-1 win at home to Doncaster, their six straight success.

Jamie Ward put County in front and, after Chris Martin had missed a penalty, Simon Dawkins did make it two five minutes after the break.

Jake Buxton's own goal gave Rovers a lifeline, but Craig Bryson sealed the points in the 78th minute to leave Derby within three points of top spot.

Reading suffered a setback as they went down 2-1 at home to Wigan.

Early goals from Chris McCann and Nick Powell put Uwe Rosler's resurgent side in command.

Billy Sharp missed a 53rd-minute penalty to get Reading back in the game and, although Pavel Pogrebnyak did pull one back in the 68th minute, it was not enough.

Leeds moved ahead of Reading into fifth place, despite being held to a goalless draw in their Yorkshire derby with Barnsley at Elland Road.

The bottom-placed Tykes finished with 10 men following Marcus Tudgay's 84th-minute dismissal, but they held on.

The two other sides in the bottom three, Yeovil and Sheffield Wednesday, also both lost.

Yeovil went down 1-0 at home to Blackburn, Jordan Rhodes with the goal in the 59th minute.

Wednesday were beaten 2-1 at home by Bournemouth.

The visitors led 2-0 at the break through goals from Matt Ritchie and Lewis Grabban and Jacques Maghoma's 82nd-minute reply was too little, too late.

Giuseppe Sannino's first match in charge of Watford ended in a 1-1 draw at Ipswich, Troy Deeney's equaliser earning the Hornets a point.

Deeney struck nine minutes from time to cancel out David McGoldrick's penalty.

Bolton and Charlton also drew 1-1, Kevin McNaughton levelling for Wanderers after Yann Kermorgant had opened the scoring.

Nottingham Forest were frustrated, drawing 0-0 at Birmingham and having Darius Henderson sent off in the 82nd minute.

The match between Brighton and Huddersfield was also goalless.
