Hughes: We must bounce back

Mark Hughes is upbeat about Stoke's chances of recovering from back-to-back Premier League defeats when they travel to Fulham for Saturday's game at Craven Cottage.

Mark Hughes: Norwich defeat huge shock

The Potters have taken just one point out of nine, and they are currently 15th in the table.

While a home draw with Manchester City, followed by an away defeat at Arsenal, were excusable, their 1-0 loss to Norwich last week at the Britannia Stadium came as a massive jolt.

This weekend's opponents Fulham have slipped into the relegation zone but are presently just three points adrift of Stoke.

And Hughes, speaking about the home defeat by the Canaries, admitted: "We didn't really see that coming. Until that point we had been very good in terms of performance level.

"We didn't hit anything like the levels we had before.

"It was a disappointment but, in the Premier League, the games come thick and fast and we have an opportunity now to put that right against Fulham."

With regards to the west London fixture, he added: "I don't really know why they (Fulham) haven't been able to knock results out at home.

"Craven Cottage is one of the great football grounds of the Premier League, it's got its own unique atmosphere and that has helped Fulham in the past.

"At the beginning of any season there are a lot of disruptions and the league hasn't really settled down yet - with international breaks and the transfer window.

"Fulham are one of many teams that will think things will settle for them and they can continue to progress and move forward.

"We have played well in our away games - at Arsenal, without getting a result, and at West Ham where we were excellent.

"So our trips to London have been fine to this point. We hope we get another positive result."

I

think all those names linked to United exits make sense. Kagawa has never really looked like hitting the form he had at Dortmund and Fellaini is radioactive after last season (even though I think he's been unfairly singled out for criticism). Nani and Anderson have had more than their fair share of chances so they are done, and Hernandez deserves better than warming a bench.
