Radamel Falcao: Looking forward to taking on a new challenge at Monaco

Radamel Falcao: Looking forward to taking on a new challenge at Monaco

The Colombia international made the rather surprising choice to head for France this summer rather than remain in Spain with Atletico Madrid or try his luck in the Premier League with Manchester City or Chelsea - who were both said to be keen on acquiring his services.

In the end, ambitious Monaco pieced together the most enticing - and lucrative - package and Falcao will be turning out in Ligue 1 next season.

Cynics have suggested that the South American is not planning on sticking around for long, with it his intention to return to Spain in the near future.

Falcao is, however, adamant that he has bought into the long-term project being pieced together at Monaco has no plans to push for a move to Real any time soon.

He told El Heraldo: "I don't think like this. Monaco enticed me because they have a long-term project, because their board are serious and because I love challenges."

Falcao is also hoping to see a familiar face join him at Stade Louis II this summer, with it reported that international colleague and former Porto team-mate Fredy Guarin could be on his way from Inter Milan.

He added: "I hope Guarin comes, it would make me very happy. We are friends and at Porto, along with James (Rodriguez), we won many things.

"If the three of us play for the same club, that will be good for the national team."

alcao really needs to shine now. Apparently according to the stats, he scores more when played up front alone. I wonder if Van Gaal will actually apply a formation to get the best out of him though.
