The Belgian keeper, 34, is among 20 men who faced charges of sporting fraud in relation to both Bari's defeat to Treviso on May 11, 2008 and their subsequent loss to Salernitana on May 23, 2009.

Gillet was on the Puglian club's books between 2001 and 2011, playing in both the matches under suspicion and, in the light of today's verdict, he potentially faces a premature end to his career.

A statement published on the FIGC's official website this morning confirmed Cosimo D'Angelo and Massimo Ganci have been handed four-year bans by the federation's disciplinary commission while Gianluca Galasso joins Gillet on a 43-month suspension.

There are 42-month bans for Raffaele Bianco, Simone Bonomi, Francesco Caputo, Daniele De Vezze, Luca Fusco, Stefano Guberti, Vitali Kutuzov, Alessandro Parisi, Ivan Rajcic and Vincenzo Santoruvo.

Nicola Belmonte, Massimo Bonanni, Corrado Colombo, Mariano Martin Donda, Santiago Ladino and Vitangelo Spadavecchia begin six-month bans but Willian Pianu and Nicola Strambelli have been cleared of wrongdoing.

Serie B club Bari have been deducted one point for their objective responsibility in relation to the actions of the 20 men.

Nine players including Paulo Barreto, Alessandro Gazzi, Davide Lanzafame and Andrea Masiello have taken plea bargains on their original charges and received short suspensions and fines as a result.
