MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini - who has been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao - has ruled out bringing anyone in during the January transfer window. Mancini told the MEN: "We can't keep thinking of bringing players in. We have a good team, good strikers, but we need them to be strong when they get a chance."

SOUTH WALES EVENING POST

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has spoken for the first time about speculation linking City with a move for Barcelona striker David Villa in the January transfer window. Laudrup joked: "There have been a lot of rumours, but the only Villa coming to Swansea is Aston Villa. He is a fantastic player, but unfortunately I don't think he will be coming to Swansea. I think he will stay at Barcelona."

BIRMINGHAM MAIL

Paul Lambert is believed to be considering a move for Norwich City and Wales striker Steven Morison, who is out of favour at Carrow Road.

Former Birmingham boss Alex McLeish and ex-Chelsea and West Brom chief Roberto Di Matteo have been linked with the vacant managerial hotseat at Nottingham Forest after the departure of Sean O'Driscoll. McLeish is the bookies favourite to land the City Ground job.

Birmingham manager Steve Clark has admitted he wants to extend the loan deal of West Ham United winger Robert Hall. The player's current loan deal is due to expire on January 12.

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson is closing in on a £1.25million deal for West Brom striker Chris Wood, who is currently on loan at Championship rivals Millwall. Wood is set for talks with Leicester in the next 24 hours.

YORKSHIRE EVENING POST

Leeds boss Neil Warnock has issued a hand-off warning to clubs eyeing striker Luciano Becchio, who has been linked with Wigan. Warnock said: "I don't think we'll lose anybody we want to keep. I can guarantee that while I'm in charge and they're (new Leeds owners GFH Capital) in charge there'll be no key players leaving here - unless we want them to leave." Warnock hopes to strike a permanent deal to land Michael Tonge after his loan from Stoke came to an end, and also wants to sign up on-loan pair Alan Tate and Jerome Thomas on permanent deals.

THE PINK UN

Norwich boss Chris Hughton has dismissed speculation linking striker Steve Morison with Aston Villa.

WIGAN EVENING POST

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is hoping to bring in Manchester United's highly-rated striker Angelo Henrique on loan in January until the end of the season. Henrique joined United in the summer but has yet to play a competitive game for the Red Devils.

THE BOLTON NEWS

Bolton's on-loan full-back Stephen Warnock is expected to sign a second loan deal from Aston Villa within the next few days.

LANCASHIRE TELEGRAPH

Henning Berg has revealed he is "bitterly disappointed" after being sacked by Blackburn on Thursday after just 10 games in charge of the Championship outfit. In a statement released via the League Managers' Association, Berg said: "It goes without saying that I am bitterly disappointed to have been relieved of my managerial duties at Ewood Park after just 57 days since my appointment."

EVENING TIMES

Motherwell's Nicky Law believes the club can finish second in the SPL if they can hold on to their best players in January. Striker Henrik Ojamaa has been linked with Polish side Lech Poznan and Sheffield United, while Rangers are eyeing midfielder Jamie Murphy.
