Laudrup has picked his moments when it comes to fielding Hernandez, Wayne Routledge and Nathan Dyer as a rotating trio behind top scorer Michu.
But it has proved to be successful, particularly in the home wins over West Brom and QPR earlier this season.
With Ki Sung-yueng the surprise choice to replace Chico Flores at centre-half, the Dane decided to use the system again at Wembley, and it paid off handsomely in a 5-0 win.
Dyer was named man of the match for his two-goal haul and the pace, precision and movement of the triumvirate was a joy to behold, as well as being too much for Bradford to handle.
Hernandez said: "We know sometimes when we play the three wingers together it can be very good. Michael has a lot of confidence in us and there are moments in games where we can find each other in space.
"We rotate our positions so it is difficult for our markers and it seemed to work out very well for us.
"It ended up being a very special performance from us, we controlled the game and once Nathan got his two goals we knew we were going to make history for the fans and the city.
"I played a final in Spain for Valencia and lost, so it was nice to turn it around this time and winning the first cup of my career is great."
Club-record signing Hernandez, 27, is one of a small band of Swansea players to have experienced European football, having played in last season's Champions League with Valencia.
And he is eager to get the chance to strut his stuff on the continent once again when Swansea play in the Europa League next term.
"As a player, I want to be able to play in Europe," he said.
"I played in the Champions League with Valencia last season but obviously I have not been able to this season so I am pleased, as are all the players, to take Swansea into Europe.
"But for now the most important things is the cup.
"We knew before the game it was not important if one team was a Premier League club and the other a League Two club.
"Once the games starts it is 50/50, but we played very well and Bradford could not stop us."
