The 21-year-old began the 2012/2013 term with Saints before returning to England to make his senior Newcastle debut in the FA Cup defeat at Brighton on January 5.

But Dummett, who has won honours for Wales U21, has been allowed to rejoin the SPL side where he made 19 appearances earlier in the campaign.

The news concluded a busy day for St Mirren, who confirmed the loan of Paul McGinn to Dumbarton until the end of the season and the mutually-agreed termination of Graeme MacGregor's contract.

Meanwhile, Newcastle also sanctioned the extension of Brad Inman's loan with Crewe until the end of the season.
