The Irish midfielder was sent off for a challenge on Hibernian's Paul Cairney just seconds after coming off the bench during the goalless draw between the sides at Easter Road on December 21.

After the match his manager Tommy Wright admitted he 'had no complaints over the dismissal' but the Saints decided to lodge an appeal to the Hampden governing body last Monday.

At a hearing of the SFA's disciplinary tribunal it was decided the punishment should stand, ruling him out of the New Year's Day clash with Motherwell and the trip to Ross County on Saturday.
