Players from past and present were introduced to a near 50,000 crowd at half-time following an opening period of possession but few clear-cut chances from the home side.

David Templeton (twice), Lewis Macleod and Barrie McKay all went close to breaking the deadlock as Rangers appeared keen to avenge their only league defeat of the campaign at the hands of Albion back in October.

But they didn't have too long to wait after the interval for Templeton (59) to finally ease home nerves with a smart finish after fine work by McKay.

Kal Naismith, who scored after coming on as a substitute against Elgin last week, almost doubled the lead but he was denied by a fine save by Mark Peat.

Rangers survived a scare when Albion striker Josh Flood rattled the inside of Neil Alexander's post in the 79th-minute but there was no way back for the visitors when Daly McSorley saw red for a second booking six minutes later.

The home side enjoyed the bulk of possession thereafter and made their numbers count when Andy Little scored from close range in the final minute of the match.
