Bell, who is out of contract at Kilmarnock at the end of the season, has been strongly linked with a possible move to Ibrox.

Bell has admitted his agent has held discussions with Rangers but was adamant that he has yet to put pen to paper on any pre-contract deal.

Rangers are able to sign players who are out of contract in the summer but they won't be able to register them until September 1 when their transfer embargo ends.

McCoist is a big fan of Bell and would like to bring in the keeper to provide competition for current No.1 Neil Alexander.

"We are interested in Cammy Bell," McCoist told Rangers TV. "We would like to keep Neil as well because I want to have two strong goalkeepers and then it would give me the opportunity to send Scott Gallacher out on loan.

"Cammy is a player we have looked at and he fits the bill in terms of his ability and his availability in terms of being out of contract in the summer.

"Nothing has been finalised but he is a player we hope to have a chat with and find out what his situation."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
