The Northern Ireland international left the pitch on a stretcher wearing a neck brace after a clash of heads and was taken to hospital, where scans confirmed the full extent of the injuries.

Rangers believe Little will not be back in action until the start of 2014 and will have corrective facial surgery early next week.

Little has been a vital cog in Ally McCoist's squad this season, scoring six goals to add to the 25 he grabbed in 2012/13.

Little wrote on his Twitter page: "Out of hospital. Unfortunately need to wait until Monday for surgery because of too much swelling! Taken back by all the msgs. Thank you."

Rangers are yet to discover the extent of the injury suffered by Richard Foster, who left Ibrox on crutches after suffering an ankle injury.

The club website said: "He has hurt his ankle but there is a lot of swelling around it and the club's medical staff will have to wait until that subsides before they can determine the specific nature of his injury."

In what proved to be a bruising encounter, Lee McCulloch was also forced out of the match for 15 minutes to receive stitches in a head wound.

McCoist said: "He got six stitches which took a whole lot longer than I was hoping for to be honest with you.

"But the skipper is the skipper and his main objective was to get back on the park. Thankfully he did and led us to another great victory and converted the penalty with aplomb."

ou can't blame De Gea for wanting to leave, he has enough to do in front of goal as it is as well as taking on the role of Man Utd's version of Derek Acorah in trying to contact and organise a defence that isn't there.

f you want to take six points off Arsenal, then that's a great strike force. Can't imagine either of them showing much for the rest of the season though...
