Will England qualify from their World Cup group?

Rob McCarthy - YES

There's no doubting that a group consisting of Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica is a tough assignment for Roy's boys but I've got a feeling we will sneak through.

Italy are first up in the heat and humidity of Manaus and that looks like a nailed-on draw, with both countries probably happy to get a point on the board in what will be incredibly tough conditions for two European sides.

Uruguay will prove a tough nut to crack in Sao Paulo, but I think Roy will have learnt alot from the recent friendly defeat to another South American team in Chile and that England will be good enough to notch another point against Luis Suarez and co.

That is certain to mean that everything will be on the line against Costa Rica in the final game in Belo Horizonte on June 24 and I have faith that England will be able to deliver in that game.

The Costa Ricans are a bit of an unknown quantity but do have talented Fulham playmaker Bryan Ruiz and Everton defender Bryan Oviedo in their ranks and qualified second behind the USA in the final round of CONCACAF qualifying.

Ultimately I expect Uruguay's experience in these conditions to see them top the group, but I think England will go through in second place at Italy's expense and will face one of Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast or Japan in the last 16 - beyond that who knows?

Sam Nightingale - NO

England have been handed a tough group for Brazil 2014, with the Three Lions up against Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica.

Roy Hodgson has done a good job to get England to the World Cup, and has started to blood some new players such as Andros Townsend and Adam Lallana in recent matches. However, I feel Hodgson will revert to his tried and trusted lieutenants at the World Cup, such as Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. Both players have had glorious careers and are model pros, but they are no longer in their pomp.

In my view, England have one world class player, Wayne Rooney, with Jack Wilshere showing the potential to reach that sort of level.

But at the World Cup that is not enough and technically, England are behind Italy, Uruguay and, dare I say, Costa Rica. Look how England performed against Chile!

Italy are seasoned pros and, like Germany, they save their best for international tournaments. Uruguay will be playing on their own continent, and will no doubt be inspired by the in-form Luis Suarez, but they also have the likes of Edinson Cavani and Diego Forlan. And Costa Rica have the class of Bryan Ruiz. Perhaps England will be too strong for the Costa Ricans, but I believe they will go out at the group stage, with Italy and Uruguay going through to the next round.

Back to the drawing board for England!

I

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. Yes some elements of their fanbase can be a bit OTT, yes they're our biggest rivals and yes it will make our poor season feel even more like the end of an era (Fergie's gone, Liverpool are back on top). However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

H

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
