The details have yet to be finalised but the Football Association is in talks with Ecuador, Honduras and Peru about playing friendlies at the end of May and start of June.

The first match, planned to be against Peru, would be at Wembley, with games against Ecuador and Honduras at England's pre-tournament base in Miami.

England will face Latin American pair Uruguay and Costa Rica in Group D and Hodgson had reckoned on those sides posing a different threat to Italy.

Talks had taken place with USA chiefs about playing Jurgen Klinsmann's men but it is understood the FA wanted to play in Miami, while the United States were keen to hold a friendly nearer their own pre-World Cup base on the West Coast.

Klinsmann has said he rejected Florida, where England will be based, as being too humid for a pre-tournament camp but that climate will be perfect preparation for Hodgson's men, whose opening match against Italy takes place in the Amazon jungle city of Manaus.

England will then head Sao Paulo for a clash with Uruguay on 19 June, before meeting Costa Rica in Belo Horizonte five days later.

think Liverpool should start trying alternative therapy now, given that Sturridge's hips and knees are apparently unfathomable to modern medicine. Voodoo, acupuncture, healing oils, rolling in the snow after a hot bath, its all got to be worth a go now.
