United were better in the first, Chelsea in the second. But on balance of play, I'd say Chelsea's half was stronger than ours. Were it not De Gea, we'd be staring at a second cup exit inside 5 days.

Valencia has just gone, after playing so well for the last 2 years he's just not the same after his latest injury. Good game, look forward to the next tie which will be so much harder, Chelsea deserved to win after their poor start, love all the comments on here, everyone's a critic!

It was a very poor performance from United. At imes it looked like United players were running through super glue or something. There was no desire to close out the game. Dont even get me started on Valencia. After a game like that he should have been taken out back and put out of his misery. Well he would have been if he was a horse.

I think the big turning point in the game was in the enforced switch Nani off Valencia on. After that we didn't look threat going forward, and lost count the number of times Valencia lost the ball or hit the first man with his crossing, never would have thought earlier in season that this would happen to him, he just hasn't been the same player last few months. But credit to Chelsea they changed it at half time & could have won it in the end. Ramires was brilliant & Hazard & Mata caused United all sorts of problems at the back.

Very lucky indeed, Chelsea looked excellent 2nd half & will probably go onto win it now, can't stand Benitez but kind of happy that the substitutions came off after the chanting aimed towards him. Valencia was rubbish and Cleverly wasn't much better, I thought Evans was excellent again.

United hardly bothered Chelsea apart from the Cech howler and horrible Rooney free kick. Chelsea had the chances to put them away in the second half but couldnt take them, great save from De Gae though to be fair. Fatigue my bum, Chelsea have played more games of late anyway.

Pony excuse.. those players he singled out evra and rafael did less running when we went down to ten men against madrid and stayed camped in the box for the 35 min spell.. plus there was 5 days rest in between and rafael had been dropped for the game before the Real match so had plenty of rest over past fortnight.. it was just a shocking second half performance and we are lucky we have Reading at old trafford next week and not one of the bigger clubs.. Team needs a win and is obviously suffering off the back of a bad week. Chelsea where great in the second half but we allowed them to be by constantly giving them back the ball. Real problem as always for utd is the lack of genuine ability in midfield. Nani went off and not a single player in our midfield was capable of beating his man.. contrast that with mata, hazard and oscar who beat their man for fun and there is your answer. When you are playing badly you need one or two dribblers to take the pressure off you.. give them the ball and let them run at the opposition, draw fouls, disrupt their shape and pull players out of position.. we don't have that nani excepted. Valencia is a lost cause... carrick and cleverley are passers only.. giggs is 85 years old.. Zaha would want to prove a real asset immediately or we will have even bigger problems next year with giggs and scholes (if he stays on) another year older. Chelsea & City will be better sides next year after shockingly poor performances this year too. We have been handed the league through a lack of a genuine title challenge from our closest adversaries. I know folks will say we have been awesome look at the points tally etc.. we are only playing in 4th gear and are miles in front... I don't think we have a 5th gear with that team. Chelsea and City just played in 3rd gear making us look better than we are.

Real Madrid game can't be used as excuse, United had enough players to play, United came out on top in the first half an hour, But Cleverly, Carrick and later Valencia were terrible, kept on giving the ball away, It was more to do with complacency than tiredness, Chelsea were simply magnificent, deserved to win i guess.....

I don't think he can claim fatigue as a valid excuse, when they played at HOME to Real Madrid on Tuesday, whereas Chelsea played AWAY to St. Bucharest on Thursday. I know there is a big gap in terms of quality of sides faced but both had european commitments this week. Why did the Chelsea squad get tired? Are Chelsea players just fitter? I wouldn't think so, well, Man United do have an ageing squad, and Rooney, and Anderson ...
