The 20-year-old made the breakthrough at Molineux last season, making five appearances, before ending the campaign on loan at SPL outfit Hibernian.

However, the Republic of Ireland under 21 international's route to the first-team at Wolves continues to be blocked, with the highly-rated youngster opting to join the Shakers earlier this month on a three-month loan deal.

Doherty told Sky Sports that he is determined to prove his worth to Wolves manager Stale Solbakken whilst with the League One club.

"I felt with the big strides I made last year, making my Premier League debut and playing in the majority of the cup games, that I would be a lot closer to playing at Wolves his year.

"With the new boss coming in though it was clear that he was going to go with the more experienced players first, which I fully respect of course, but I didn't want to just hang around waiting and hoping.

"I felt that it was important I got out and show him what I can do as quickly as possible as he told me that he wanted to see me playing regular competitive football.

"I discussed things with my agent, but Kevin Blackwell was a big reason why I came here to Bury.

"At Sheffield United he brought through young players like Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton so hopefully he can bring the best out in me too as I really believe I can play at the top level.

"It has gone well personally so far and now that we have got that first win under our belts I just know that we will start moving up the table."

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
