Ward milestone tainted by loss

Stephen Ward's 200th league appearance for Wolves did not end the way he would have wished, as the skipper for the day saw his side beaten 2-1 at Watford.

The Molineux outfit had Christophe Berra controversially sent off after a tussle with Troy Deeney - and it was the Hornets frontman who ended up bagging the winner.

That left Wolves without a win in seven games - and the pressure mounting on manager Stale Solbakken.

"Yet again things haven't gone our way and we are fighting uphill battles every time we step onto the pitch," Ward told the club's official website. "It would have been a great point had we nicked it having gone down to ten men so early. But again we go away with nothing.

"It wasn't a sending-off. The ref said he played advantage to give Deeney the chance to try and score. To let him advance and get his shot in as he did - and then send Christophe off - is hard to take. It's tough for referees and he'll say it is the letter of the law but we are disappointed with the decision.

"My 200th appearance is immaterial to be honest - the game was the most important thing. But it is great for me to get that milestone. Hopefully I can build on that now - I don't want to rest on that number, I want to keep playing."

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
