The 22-year-old Scottish international has just completed a hugely successful campaign on loan at Hibernian in the SPL - where he finished with 23 goals.

Griffiths signed for Wolves in 2011 from Dundee, but he has never actually played a league game for the club.

He had previously stated his desire to remain in Scotland, but now after talking with Jackett - he has confirmed that he is ready to help fire the club out of League One after they took up an option they had on him.

"I spoke to the new manager just before I boarded the plane to go out to Croatia," Griffiths told the Express and Star.

"He said he was looking forward to working with me and that gave me a lot of confidence about going back there to start pre-season.

"I'm going to work hard to try to get myself into the team.

"I have to concentrate on Wolves because my contract is there. I thought it was great of the manager to call me like that."

Griffiths also believes that playing in the third tier of English football, doesn't mean he can forget about his international ambitions.

"Can I be a Scotland striker in League One? I don't see why not," he said.

"Jordan Rhodes did it at Huddersfield in League One so I just need to go down there, work hard and score goals. It's about trying to kick on after this season's form.

"As long as I am doing my job and scoring goals then I will give the manager food for thought.

"League One isn't the most competitive league in the world. But there are a lot of games to be played and, hopefully, I can do enough to earn recognition from the manager."

t's why Mourinho is so successful. He gives players a specific, limited set of functions to perform. They are but a cog in a machine. Do no more, do no less. I assume he learnt it from LvG :)

really hope that someone in the mainstream media spots that the Bayern manager played for and managed Barcelona quite well, and thinks to mention it in the build up. That would be really interesting.
